Essay for the preparation of the Modern Inventory of Historic Resources for the City of Edmonton
Over the course of 3 years, 2003 – 2006, David Murray worked with historians Ken Tingley and Marianne Fedori to prepare a list of the most important buildings that were constructed between 1930 and 1959. The list was compiled from a comprehensive review of building permits in that period. All public buildings and those designed by an architect were considered. Significant houses were also evaluated. Over 300 buildings were identified 100 of which have been added to the Edmonton Register of Historic Resources. This essay was prepared as a context paper.
